CFDA been reformed into SAMR

On the morning of April 10, 2018, CFDA was reformed and removed as CSAMR (China State Administration for Market Regulation).

"Announcement on the Supervision of Food and Drugs during the Institutional Reform" was co-issued by SAMR and the SDA (State Drug Administration). The announcement clearly stated that the original CFDA’s review, approval, supervise and inspection and testing and other matters of the food, health food, infant formula, and FSMP are still processed according to the original regulations.

1.There will be no change in the transition period for foods/special foods’ regulations and registrations, especially the principles and the systems.

2.The Institutional reform will not have a noticeable impact on the reform of special food registration and filing systems.

3.SAMR will expand the supervisions covered, not just the product administrative procedures like the original functions of CFDA, but also the post-market monitoring, price audit on the market, the IP born with the products protection, so the main target is to improve the efficiency of the administrative and supervision jobs.

In addition to common foods, the special foods include baby formula products, food for special medical purposes, health food.
